1. How are shipping charges calculated?
Shipping charges are 4% of the transaction plus $4 handling.
2. What should I do if merchandise arrives broken?
All packages are shipped and insured by UPS. If any merchandise arrives broken, call UPS at 1-800-742-5877 to report a claim. Do not throw out any of the boxes since UPS may want to inspect them. Once you report the claim, call us to order replacement pieces.
3. What should I do if merchandise arrives defective?
Call to inform us of any defects as soon as you receive your merchandise. Defective merchandise can be sent back to the manufacturer for no charge replacements within 2 weeks of purchase.
4. Can I put my china in the dishwasher?
We do not recommend putting china with any gold or platinum into the dishwasher on an everyday basis. However, most china can be put into the dishwasher periodically as long as you do not use citric based detergent or the drying cycle.
5. What is the best way to wash my crystal?
Hand washing is the best for your fine crystal. To avoid water spots, dry with a soft, lint-free cloth. Use a mild detergent and remember not to put any hot liquid into the crystal.
6. How should I care for my flatware?
Stainless steel can be put into the dishwasher. Sterling should be rinsed promptly after use. Do not wash sterling with stainless. Using a mild detergent hand wash sterling and dry with a soft, lint-free cloth.
7. Do I need an appointment to register?
We recommend making an appointment to register because it allows our sales staff to work exclusively with the bride and groom during that time. You can also register yourself online for your convenience.

Bridal Registry
Marel Gifts offers a full bridal registry for the convenience of the bride and groom and their guests. In store registries are by appointment only. We set aside your special time so one of our bridal consultants can work exclusively with you to help create the registry you want and need. Not in town and know what you want already? Stock & Special Orders
We will be happy to special order any item that is not in stock. If it's a gift, we will send out a gift notification immediately and ship the merchandise as soon as it is available. Special orders are usually shipped within 3 - 4 weeks. Special import items may take longer. All special orders are non-returnable.

Marel Gifts ships via UPS anywhere in the continental United States. The merchandise is carefully inspected and professionally packed. All packages are insured against breakage by UPS. We will make every effort to fill your order as quickly as possible. If an item is not in stock and it is being purchased as a gift, we can send a gift notification out immediately. The merchandise will follow usually within three weeks. Marel cannot ship orders to PO Boxes.
Returns & Exchanges
We hope you will love your selection. If for any reason you wish to send it back, we accept returns of unused items within 30 days of receipt of the package. The merchandise amount of your original purchase will be refunded to you, excluding any shipping charges. Import merchandise, special-order merchandise, sale and personalized items are not returnable—so take special care when giving instructions for special orders and personalization. A gift can be returned for exchange only.

Return the product to: 5 Bond Street, Great Neck, NY 11021 via UPS or Parcel Post (please keep your receipt should you need to track your package). Remember to insure it for full value. The customer remains responsible for both outgoing and incoming shipping charges. Shipping and handling charges are nonrefundable. Shipping and handling charges will be applied to all exchange orders.
Your credit card will be credited for the price of the merchandise and any taxes when we have received and processed your returned item. Please note that credit card companies vary on the time it takes for credit to appear on their customers' records. Please allow one to two billing cycles for the refund to appear on your statement.

Engraving
Personalize any gift with our beautiful hand or machine engraving. We offer this service on sterling, silverplate and crystal. Choose from block or script lettering. All engraving is done off-premises. Please allow one week for engraving.
Gift Wrap
Upon the customer's request, Marel Gifts will gift wrap any purchase free of charge. Choose from our many different styles that compliment every occasion. Personalized gift card included with every purchase.
Corporate Gifts
Marel Gifts offers an array of items for your corporate needs. Choose from clocks, pens, figurines, paperweights and much more. Whether it's for a small business or large corporation, put your holiday shopping in our hands. We will wrap, personalize and deliver them for you.
Gift Certificates and Notifications
For your convenience, Marel Gifts offers gift certificates for any desired amount. Last minute shopping? If merchandise is not in stock, we will send a gift notification to the recipient and ship the merchandise as soon as it is available.

About Marel Gifts
Thank you for taking the time to learn more about Marel Gifts. Marel Gifts was established in May of 1963. Originally located at 173 Canal Street in downtown Manhattan, we are an independent retail store still owned and operated by founder, Frank Lucido. Prior to opening Marel, he had been in the giftware industry for eight years, first as a messenger, then as a salesman. Frank combined his knowledge of products and passion for people to create a store whose backbone is customer service.
In the early years, Marel specialized in sterling flatware, baby gifts and holloware. As the years progressed and the tabletop industry expanded, so did our product line. We now carry all of the major manufacturers of sterling, silverplate and stainless flatware, formal and casual china, crystal and giftware. We truly are the store for all your tabletop and giftware needs. Our customers can find gifts that range from traditional to unique, high-end to inexpensive, wood to crystal. You can be assured that at Marel Gifts you will find the right gift at the best value.
In 1984, Frank relocated Marel to Great Neck, Long Island. At this location we were able to display our products better and serve our customers with even more special attention. We began our full bridal registry service, which today contains over 300 active registries nationwide. Marel Gifts is known as having one of the largest formal china selections on Long Island. Our "great wall of china" displays over 500 patterns. Our friendly and knowledgeable sales people can help you choose the perfect pattern to match your lifestyle.
